This renovation of the Peter Engel Science Hall provided for a new faculty department, to reflect changes in pedagogy, and to enliven the building. These enhancements started in the corridors, where the ceilings have been updated and now have continuous LED strip lights. The classrooms and labs behind cement-block walls are now opened and inclusive by introducing windows. Prospective students and other passersby will now be able to see into the spaces and observe the activities. Beneath these new windows, color panels are added to enrich the circulation experience.
The program included a new student and faculty lounge, new environmental studies labs, and a break out space directly off of the corridor with soft seating. The break out space has ebonized oak tongue and groove wood ceiling and brings natural light in to the corridors. Perimeter offices now have partial glass doors to also introduce daylight into the corridors.
